NASHVILLE, Tenn. –“My Savior My God,” the second Top 10 radio single from Atlanta-based worship leader Aaron Shust’s highly anticipated debut project, Anything Worth Saying, has experienced overwhelming listener response resulting in a rapid climb up the Christian radio charts. The single is currently at #6 and was last week’s most added song on R&R’s Monitor AC radio chart.
Listener response led Sue Wilson, program director of Cleveland’s 95.5 The Fish to state, "Every once in a while, a song comes along that makes an emotional connection with our listeners. ‘My Savior My God’ is one of those songs. When we play it, the studio phones ring and the e-mails come in. Not since ‘I Can Only Imagine’ have we had this kind of response. "
Shust recently spent three hours in the K-LOVE studios, co-hosting their live morning show with Jon and Sherry Rivers as well as performing three songs live. During the course of the show, Rivers played "My Savior My God" three times, once each hour.
The response to “My Savior My God” hasn’t been limited to radio, with sales of Shust’s Anything Worth Saying increasing over 27% in the last week alone. Media praise of the project has included such publications as CCM Magazine, which recently featured Shust as one of its “One’s To Watch,” and stated, “When you listen to Aaron’s debut album, Anything Worth Saying, you can begin to understand why he has such clout right out of the gate: great songs, great heart and great performance.”
Shust recently spent time touring as the opening artist on the fall leg of Nichole Nordeman’s “Brave” Tour. When speaking of Aaron’s involvement in the tour, Nordeman said “Part of my excitement stems from having newcomer Aaron Shust as part of this tour. I have no doubt that audiences will share my new enthusiasm for his music. He's the real deal."
Accolades for Shust and Anything Worth Saying have spread beyond the Christian market, with the project finding fans in the mainstream such as Collective Soul’s Ed Roland who stated, “This [Anything Worth Saying] is a great record. Halfway through every song I found myself singing along.”
Shust’s debut overflows with well-crafted pop hooks wrapped in memorable, vertically-oriented songs. The project was produced by Dan Hannon and mixed by Steve Bishir (Amy Grant, Chris Tomlin, Garth Brooks) and Dan Hannon. Players include John Chalden (drums), Tim Gibson (bass), Candi Pearson-Shelton and Michael Mellett (backing vocals). Shust contributed acoustic guitars and piano while Hannon and George Cocchini (Michael W. Smith, Michael McDonald, Tim Hughes) played electric guitars.
